Program Summer Courses for young people (9 to 14 years old) are opportunities for the playful exploration of skills, talent, and sensibility as well as basic introductions to one or several techniques and artistic areas. Ar.Co devised for the Summer of 2024 a group of on-premise experiences in areas such as Drawing, Painting, Illustration/Comics, Animation, Photography, Jewelery and Ceramics.

Analog Photography Workshop for Young People (ages 9 to 14): Photo-book

Program In this workshop we will elaborate a small book with photographic images produced through a playful and creative initiation to its traditional processes: the “pin-hole” camera and “photograms”. Experimenting in the darkroom and developing in black and white on photographic paper. Construction of a paper and cardboard book, folded and sewn by hand.

In this workshop we will create an illustrated album (illustrated book) using drawing and clay modeling.
From a large set of proposed questions, phrases and captions, we will imagine, draw and build scenarios that illustrate the proposed subjects using clay. The constructions will be photographed and used to create a book.

Program In this workshop students will discover how animations were made before the invention of cinema. By exploring different exercises, we will understand how speed, movement and gesture work. Program In this workshop, students will discover how three-dimensional figures were animated when computers did not exist. Using plasticine of various colors, figures, objects and reused material it is possible to create movement and various narratives in small experimental exercises about the theme of mythology.

Program Participants will create a photographic herbarium based on a playful and creative introduction to photography and its experimental printing processes, taking advantage of sunlight and organic and natural materials (cyanotypes or anthotypes). Construction of an album with various colored prints based on the shapes of plants, leaves and flowers.

In this workshop we will create amulets and other magical jewelry through exercises that use collage. We will use found objects, wood, rope, among others, as well as paint and hot glue.
Participants will be invited to think about symbols representing colors, shapes and animals to create pieces that tell tales, bring special powers and protect from even the toughest monsters in the closet.

Program The profusion of selfies seems to point at our growing need to portray ourselves. This workshop aims at improving the quality of these self-representations and make them more complex and creative. Program Participants will create autobiographical stories with found/manipulated/stolen images distributed by the course leader. This material will be based on images from the history of illustration and comics. The course will be an invitation to creative copying, collage, construction and appropriation. Program We will consider some of the principles of narrative in an illustrated album, in the context of editorial illustration. Departing from a group of images and a small text a small illustrated narrative will be developed in book format. Techniques of deconstruction, repetition and comparison, as well as the graphic manipulation of elements of composition and colour, will define the rhythm, atmosphere and narrative structure. We will use traditional materials such as pencil and/or markers.
