Program In this workshop, participants will learn how to convert a digital photographic image into an image compatible with the silk-screen process. Using Photoshop, we will create monochrome photoliths that can be exposed onto a screen and printed onto paper or fabric.

Program In this workshop, participants will develop an image to silk-screen on a T-shirt. Compositions with images and text will be created and edited for textile printing. A small edition of T-shirts will be produced.

Workshop where experiences and techniques are developed using traditional and alternative graphic processes.
Through individual and collective exercises, participants will explore the specific qualities of reproduction techniques such as drypoint, etching, aquatint, soft ground, linoleum, screen printing, monotype, colograph, photocopying, digital printing, among others.
Participants are encouraged to create series of prints or small author publications such as books, fanzines and editions.

The printmaking studio is open on Tuesdays, by appointment, for students and people from outside Ar.Co, with the technical support of a teacher.
During open access hours, participants may the explore etching techniques, namely aquatint, etching, drypoint, soft-ground and Collagraphs, as well as planographic techniques such as lino print.
Access to open access studio time requires autonomy in printing practice and editions as well as a prior consultation with the teacher in charge. Candidates must book sessions with at least 24 hours in advance at the Almada office.
Ar.Co's printmaking studio offers regular workshops with specific technical exercises for participants with no experience in printmaking.

Printmaking Workshop: the line

Line drawing exercises in printmaking using different techniques such as drypoint and etching. Participants will explore the line in the representation of shape, volume and texture in drawing, looking at examples from artists such as Durer, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Hockney and others.

In this workshop participants will learn to produce a print using linoleum. They will learn how to cut a drawing on the linoleum surface using specific cutting tools. Preparatory drawing exercises will be offered that explore high contrast imaging, the positive and negative, light, shadow, and texture.

Exploring the use of tone and colour in printmaking using processes such as aquatint and soft-ground etching. Participants will explore tone through preparatory drawings with materials such as charcoal and ink, looking at light and shadow. Then they will produce soft-ground etchings and aquatints on copper.

The process of making collagraphs is experimental and does not require the use of acids or metals. Using packaging, fabrics, and other recycled materials, participants will create plates with textures and shapes that will serve for the production of prints with one or more colors.
