People have been sharing their stories using threads and fabric since ancient times. In this workshop we will talk about storytelling in textile: scrapbooks, textile diaries, story cloths, local traditions and artist's books.
During the workshop students will create an artistic textile book or a story cloth. They will learn various ways of working with fabric: basic stitches, traditional techniques, free improvisation, and textile collage.
Students will explore embroidery and fabric art as a means of expression: embroidery sketching, working with volume and some unconventional materials.
Looking at different book shapes and structures, students will analyse the role that images, text and time play in a book.

Program
A practical introduction to hiking as part of the creative process.
Walking is a simple form of transforming the abstract experience of chronological time in a contemplative experience of an “elastic” time. The particular effects of physical and psychic involvement that the landscape awakens in us when hiking has long been known of philosophers and nature lovers.
This one-day workshop is dedicated to a reflexive practice on the art of walking. Participants should bring along whatever material they feel comfortable with in order to make annotations (written, graphic or photographic).

Notes Local: de Sintra - Cabo da Roca.
