Program
An introductory program to the visual arts on Saturdays.
In these workshops, students will explore the various disciplines taught at Ar.Co through introductory exercises and with the accompaniment of specialized teachers. They will be able to develop a portfolio of work in drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, illustration/bd and cinema. They will also have the opportunity to try out new techniques and processes for making artwork and to develop previously acquired skills. The workshops can be attended on their individually or in sequence, allowing for a more comprehensive exploration of the visual arts.

Workshop: Introduction to Analog Photography
An introduction to Analog Photography experimental techniques. The light as it draws on the photographic paper; photography-making perforated boxes (pin-hole). Introduction to the black and white lab experience. Alternative printing techniques using sunlight: Cianotypes

Workshop: Introduction to Jewelery
Cutting, folding - making a necklace.
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to the practice of Contemporary Jewelry as a multidisciplinary and artistic area of knowledge.
Participants will learn, experiment and explore basic jewelry techniques such as cutting out metal, transferring designs to metal, folding, shaping and fitting to build a necklace without the need of glues or solders.

Workshop: Drawing and Painting
Introductory course to drawing and painting through observation exercises using models, sceneries, visual compositions and nude live-model.
This workshop aims to develop the participants’ capacities for representation and expression, while providing a deeper knowledge of the materials used in drawing and painting: graphite and charcoal, India ink, watercolors, pastels, and oil paints. Contour, line and stain; contrast; light and shadow; representation of surfaces and textures; representing space, far and near; the human figure.

Practical introduction to video editing and to its main tools. Importing images, resolutions, formats, cuts, exporting. Analysis of film excerpts: the energy in cuts and plans.

Workshop de Ilustração/BD
Workshop dedicado ao desenvolvimento da capacidade de expressão gráfica através do lançamento de exercícios de desenho que relacionam a palavra com a imagem. Os participantes irão trabalhar com diversos materiais adequados à linguagem gráfica da Ilustração e Banda desenhada tais como grafite, lápis de cor, tinta da china e gouache.

Workshop dedicated to developing graphic expression skills through drawing exercises that relate word and image. Participants will work with various materials suitable for the graphic language of illustration and comics, such as graphite, colored pencils, India ink and gouache.

Workshop: Introduction to Ceramics
This workshop explores some of the different ways in which ceramic materials can be approached.
Students will learn different techniques of building with clay such as slab and coil.
The students will also learn how to finish the pieces with the slip method and the pieces will be fired at the end of the workshop.
