In 2009, the School Library moved from its Lisbon installations to Ar.Co’s Southern facilities at the Quinta de S. Miguel, Almada.
The Library can be attended by students, teachers and the general public, and holds around 40.000 publications on art related areas and a substantial archive of press clippings and other materials concerning contemporary national artistic production. Important donations have been accepted over the years, among which, in 2021, the inclusion by donation from the heirs, of an important legacy from the personal library of painter Álvaro Lapa.
The Library has exchange agreements with artists, galleries, and institutions, such as the Centro Português de Fotografia, o Centro de Artes Visuais de Coimbra, a Fundação de Serralves, a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, a Sistema Solar/Documenta, a Culturgest, a Fundação Cupertino de Miranda, o Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, a Fundação PLMJ, a Casa da Cerca- Centro de Arte Contemporânea, Museu Internacional de Escultura Contemporânea de Santo Tirso, Galerias Municipais de Lisboa/ EGEAC, etc.
The external reader Library card allows users to benefit from all the services, except home consultation.
