Every year Ar.Co awards a limited number of scholarships, sponsored by companies and private entities. Application for these scholarships is open to all students successfully enrolled in the Advanced Course in Visual Arts, the Advanced Project in Photography, the Applied Project in Illustration or an Individual Project program.
The scholarships will be awarded by a jury composed by one member of the Board of Directors of Ar.Co, one person from the Ministry of Culture, and the head of the department where the applicant studied last (or person responsible for the disciplinary area dominant in his/her recent work). The scholarship represents a 50% reduction in the student’s tuition fee. Applicants must present a portfolio of their work (Director’s Office, Lisbon) until October 22nd of the school year the scholarship refers to. At the end of the school year, students who were awarded scholarships may participate in the Scholarship Students and Finalists Exhibition. These programs are acknowledged as “of cultural interest” by the Ministry of Culture. Hovione

The Fundação PT scholarships for Artistic Training aim to provide a 50% reduction in the tuition fee of 5 selected students who have sucessfully enrolled either in Level 3 of the full programme in Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Cinema/Movement Image, Illustration/Comics and Jewellery or in Level 2 of the full programme in Photography.
Candidates should present a digital format portfolio of their work until the 22nd of October of the school year that the scholarship refers to. Candidates should also substantiate the need for financial support with documents they consider relevant and/or are requested by Ar.Co. Final selection is made by a comission including one member of Ar.Co’s board of directors, the head of the department where the student wishes to study and a representative of the Fundação PT. After the end of the school year Ar.Co will organize a public exhibition exclusively dedicated to show the work of the 5 students who have been granted scholarships. The Graça Costa Cabral Scholarship was created by Ar.Co as an hommage to the founder and president of the board of directors who passed away in January 2016. It will be awarded annually to one of the scholarship candidates enrolled in a full programme at Ar.Co and demonstrating exceptional promise. The Graça Costa Cabral Scholarship is supported directly by Ar.Co and independent from its annual scholarship program, financed by private and institutional entities. The scholarship represents a reduction of (up to) 100% in the student’s tuition fee.
