Program Painting I is the central discipline of the Course’s first year. Teachers evaluate the students’ progress in a continuous mode. One of the heads of department will be present to confirm this evaluation several times a year. Throughout the school year the participants will elaborate an individual portfolio that is as consistent and diversified as possible. A wide variety of practical exercises, both technical and thematic, promotes the development of a pictorial sensibility and a progressive knowledge of the tradition of Painting. The themes suggested in class will be explored, alternatively, in conventional and non-conventional modes, making use of various materials: oil and acrylic paints, gouache and watercolor, chalk and pastel, India ink, etc., besides other less traditional materials. The learning process is further enriched by contributions brought in by guests and by activities outside the school.
