Ceramics II constitutes the main course of year 2. Evaluation of the participants’ progress is both continu-ous (the responsibility of each teacher) and formally confirmed, twice a year, with the presence of the head of department. A consistent and diversified body of work will become, all throughout the year, the partici-pants’ individual portfolio. Distinctive characteristics of Ceramics II in the 1st semester: emphasis on the various techniques for production of work of larger dimensions; building with coils, slab and carving block; different execution and finishing techniques; emphasis on experimentation and concentration as conditions for rigor and progress. Firing of the pieces takes place during classes so as to demonstrate how to handle the kiln and promote the participants’ autonomy in a near future.
