Ceramics II constitutes the main course of year 2. Evaluation of the participants’ progress is both continu-ous (the responsibility of each teacher) and formally confirmed, three times a year, with the presence of the head of department. A consistent and diversified body of work will become, all throughout the year, the participants’ individual portfolio. Distinctive characteristics of Ceramics II: emphasis on the various tech-niques for production of work of larger dimensions; building with coils, slab and carving blocks; different execution and finishing techniques; using slip casting techniques and porcelain in bigger molds; deepening the understating of glazes and color usage; emphasis on experimentation and concentration as conditions for rigor and progress. Firing of the pieces takes place during classes so as to demonstrate how to handle the kiln and promote the participants’ autonomy in a near future.
