Participants’ progress is assessed by the various tutors and formally confirmed twice a year in the presence of the head of department. Throughout the year, individual portfolios will be compiled, which are intended to be comprehensive and varied. Distinctive features: strong emphasis on personalised and independent creative work; in-depth study of different ceramic techniques; larger-scale pieces; construction using coils, slabs and blocks; different types of finishes and methods of execution; importance placed on experimentation and concentration as factors in achieving precision and progress. Students are encouraged to monitor the firing of their pieces and to gradually learn to operate the kilns independently.
