Program
In artistic practice, a study is frequently a preparatory sketch for a finished piece.
This workshop challenges students to plan their paintings through preparatory drawings, while endowing these with the value of something which is interesting in itself. With that objective in mind, different materials will be used to explore aspects such as light, colour, form and composition, as well as different subjects like the human body, objects and generic images.

Program Workshop dedicated to the processes of photographic printing on salt and albumen paper. These are classic processes for preparing light sensitive paper with silver nitrate and egg white, which became popular in the 19th century, due to their rich and sharp images. This course is particularly interesting for participants who want to experiment and learn different ways to materialize their images.

This workshop aims to develop a graphic diary through drawing sessions on the Lisbon subway line, allowing participants to train their ability to synthesize, their hand-eye coordination, and their observational skills, given the unpredictability and spontaneity of public transportation. Following these field sessions, students will develop an imaginary character in a subway car and create a short 2–4 page comic strip about that character’s journey or destination.
Throughout these classes, we will cover observation drawing techniques, the basics of character design, and comic book layouts.

Program This intensive workshop focuses on the development of screenplays through a process of analysis, questioning and rewriting. Inspired by collaborative methodologies used in contexts such as the Torino Film Lab, the workshop is organised into sessions that explore the structure and language of the materials that make up a film project in its early stages of development — the logline, synopsis and statement of intent. Throughout the course, the work produced will be discussed in group and one-to-one sessions, with the aim of exploring, clarifying and testing the essence of each project.

Line drawing exercises based on sound and tactile stimuli, exploring a varied ‘calligraphy’ of the line. The aim is for the participants to ‘unlearn’ their way of looking hooked on representational resemblance, transforming all sensorial stimuli into visual matter. Exercises with stain and line using India ink based on a quick visual stimulus: active inattention and notions of speed. Construction of a collective panel: exploration of chromatic aspects and exhibition design based on written stimuli.
Progressive drawing exercise in several stages exploring notions of authorship and “authorship noise”. Blind drawing based on attentive observation of complex images.
Assenbly of the collective panel

Sewing is one of the oldest human activities—and perhaps one of the most revolutionary as well. With needle and thread, two objects can be joined together; fishing nets have been made, as have clothes, and the course of human history has been altered.
In this workshop, these will be our tools: needle and thread. Simple, portable, and offering an almost infinite range of techniques and possibilities. The aim is for students to acquire a repertoire of sewing, embroidery, and beading techniques, fostering their capacity for expression and creativity through exercises designed to bring ideas to life—ideas related to the creation of an object in meaningful dialogue with the body.
Almost all of us have scraps of fabric at home, beads lost in time, memories that connect us to our ancestors and to stories from days gone by—too precious to throw away…

Notes Materials required:
Sewing thread, assorted yarns and cords, fabric, beads, and a small hand embroidery hoop.

This workshop aims to explore the creative aspect, the observation and interpretation of an object, as well as the development of spatial awareness through the learning of construction techniques.
Following a phase of experimentation and testing combinations and arrangements of different materials, each participant will design a structure primarily made of wood, taking into account the characteristics of the chosen objects, to incorporate into the sculpture.
From a technical perspective, this course focuses on learning a construction process based on knowledge of joinery, including the creation of joints and the use of specific tools and techniques for each stage of the work.
It will also cover the identification of the different types of wood used and the application of various wood-cutting techniques.

In order to bring their projects to fruition, filmmakers are constantly asked to present their ideas, often whilst these are still in their infancy. This is where the project dossier comes in, a document designed to show potential partners — sponsors, festivals, residencies, amongst others — what we intend to do. As well as being necessary, the project dossier can help us clarify our intentions and begin to structure our film.
Participants are asked to bring along an idea for a film they would like to make and share it with the group. We will work together on the key documents needed to present it to potential partners: a synopsis, a director’s statement and, if possible, some form of (audio)visual material. This workshop could well lay the foundations for the creation of a new film.

Curso ministrado em inglês.
The focus of this workshop will be on how to make a film with little technical knowledge and few available instruments, because while there are a lot of complex factors that go into making films, there are also other possibilities that allow us to make films in accessible ways.
The goal of this workshop is for every student to make a short film during the classes while discussing said possibilities to create in their real lives and the obstacles one faces during the making of a film. Overall, this workshop will explore the idea of the filmmaking process in this contemporary time from a simple perspective.

This workshop departs from the forms of traditional pottery to explore their reconstruction through design processes. Using slab-building techniques, participants analyse and reinterpret traditional forms, taking them from a continuous process to a layer-by-layer construction.
The work moves between drawing, paper and clay, exploring the transition between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms as a means of transforming shape and offering a contemporary interpretation of traditional forms.

Program In this workshop we will be concerned with the essential montage tools in digital editing. Our focus will comprise both the technical aspects and the creative approach involved in the montage of a cinematographic scene. Throughout the course we will develop a colective practical exercise exploring the multiple narrative possibilities emerging from the manipulation of sound and image. The objective is to understand the montage not only as a technique, but as an expressive tool able to transform the images’ meaning.
